This is a great article. Here is an outline, but I encourage you to read it the whole.

It motivated and graced me for the task of prayer.

Prayer was never meant to be a duty. If it is not our delight, something is wrong with our hearts and thinking.

Samuel tells God's people: “Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you, and I will instruct you in the good and the right way.”

1 Samuel 12:23

How can prayerlessness be a sin?

  1. When "it ignores God’s story and God’s design for his people."

  2. When "is a failure to trust God and his promises."

  3. When it "is a failure to seek God’s glory"

  4. When it "shows that we are not grasping the gospel"

Can prayer ever be sinful?

Yes. When our prayers become "the grounds for God’s acceptance" or "competition with others."
