Jesus Loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so.

For a long time, I had a sticky note in Prayers for Myself asking God to help me experiencially know that He loved me. I knew this as a truth in my head, but not in my heart. I didn't think I truly knew what it meant to have God's love poured into my heart. (Romans 5:5). In His kindness and in His time, God answered that prayer. Many years later I picked up Gentle and Lowly, by Dane Ortlund. It was another beautiful gift from God that confirmed his love for me and sealed it in my heart.

I decided to add a section to Daily Gospel Truth where I wrote out the verses that reflect God's love for me. I have recorded these on pg. 24, 25.

The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin.

Ex. 34:6,7 (Num. 63:17; Neh. 9:17; Ps. 69:13; 86:5,15; 103:8; 145:8; Osa. 63:17; Joel 2:12; Jonah 4:2; Nah. 1:3; James 5:11)

“I have loved you with an everlasting love;

therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.”

Jer. 31:3

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

his mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.

For the Lord will not

cast off forever,

but, though he cause grief, he will have compassion

according to the abundance of his steadfast love;

Lam. 3:22,23,31,32

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

Jesus . . . having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

John 13:1

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”

John 15:12

. . . for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.

John 16:27

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Rom. 5:8

Christ who lives in me . . . . who loved me and gave himself for me.

Gal. 2:20

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us . . . made us alive. . .so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Eph. 2:4,7

In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

1 John 4:10
