In another section in Promises I decided to write out first person acknowledgements to God of his strength and goodness. Some of these could be put Prayers for Myself - but gathered together I think they serve the purpose of rehearsing the promises of God.
“I know that you can do all things,
and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
Job 42:2
“O Lord, God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you. . . . We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” 2 Chronicles 20:6, 12
But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord.
At an acceptable time, O God,
in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness.
Ps. 69:13
From your presence let my vindication come!
Let your eyes behold the right!
Wondrously show your steadfast love,
O Savior of those who seek refuge
from their adversaries at your right hand.
Ps. 17:2, 7
In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
Ps. 4:8
But you, O Lord, are a shield about me,
my glory, and the lifter of my head.
I lay down and slept;
I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.
I will not be afraid of many thousands of people
who have set themselves against me all around.
Ps. 3:3, 5,6
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy,
and spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may exult in you.
Ps. 5:11
Oh, how abundant is your goodness,
which you have stored up for those who fear you
and worked for those who take refuge in you,
in the sight of the children of mankind!
Ps. 31:19
I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
will enter your house.
I will bow down toward your holy templein the fear of you.
Ps. 5:7
Send out your light and your truth;
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy hill
and to your dwelling!
Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God my exceeding joy,
and I will praise you with the lyre,
O God, my God.
Ps. 43:3,4
Nevertheless, I am continually with you;
you hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will receive me to glory.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Ps. 73:23-26
As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness;
when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.
Ps. 17:15
You have put more joy in my heart
than they have when their grain and wine abound.
Ps. 4:7
